I am directed to inform the general public that CMH&SW has approved the commencement of preparations
for the 65th National on Health (NCH) Meeting with the approval of the theme and sub-themes for the 65th National Council on Health (NCH)
meeting and the subsequent acceptance from the Borno State government the Host of the Council Meeting.
You may wish to note that, the National
Council on Health (NCH) Meeting as established by the National Health Act, (2014), serves as the apex platform for policy making in the
healthcare sector, faciltating dialogue,
experience sharing and
discussions among key stakeholders to
advance our nation's health agenda. The theme of the 65th NCH is "Accelerating Pathways to
Universal Health Coverage: Strategies for 2030 Success" with the following
Sub-themes:
1.
Health Workforce Development: Building
Capacity for Quality Healthcare Delivery in Maternal and Child Health.
2.
Community Engagement and Health
Promotion: Empowering Communities for Better Health.
3.
Innovations in Digital Health:
Transforming Healthcare Delivery.
The National Council on Health (NCH) meeting is scheduled to hold from
Monday 18th - Friday, 22nd November,2024
in Maiduguri, Borno State. Arrival will be on Sunday 17th November, 2024 while departure is
on Saturday, 23rd November,
2024.
STRUCTURE AND PARTCIPATION AT THE COUNCIL MEETING.
The five day meeting is structured into
three parts namely:
TECHNICAL SESSION:
The technical session receives and
deliberate on presentations at the plenary which are centered on the theme and
sub- themes of the meeting and thereafter continue with deliberation on all
memos submitted to it for
consideration, This session under
the chairmanship of the PSH takes place on the first two
days of the meeting and make recommendation on its deliberations to the
Council.
SIDE EVENTS: Presentations and Exhibition.
The third day of the meeting as well as
exhibition enables exhibitors to display their items, including but not limited to medical equipment, new inventions, and many vendors showcasing different
types of items etc, around the meeting venue. This is often championed by the
Host State in collaboration with the Private sector, Development Partners and
Civil Society Organization.
COUNCIL SESSION:
The council session under the
chairmanship of the CMH&SW receives and consider the memos recommended to
it by the technical committee and at the end of deliberation, Council adopts the communiqué for the
NCH.
PARTICIPANTS: About 800 - 1000 participants are expected at the 65th Regular National Council on Health (NCH) Meeting.

Letters of invitation/Notification to
Hon. Commissioners of the 36 States and FCT have been dispatched, as well as
for Departments Agencies
and Parastatals (DAPs),
Line Ministries, Military and Para-Military, Development Partners and other
stakeholders in the health sector.
CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF MEMORANDA:
You are requested to forward your
memoranda if any, (not
more than two). Please note that the deadline for submission of your memoranda
is Friday,11th October,2024.
