Federal Government of Nigeria has partner with Roche Pharmaceutical Industry to improve the health system of Nigeria.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole revealed this while receiving on Courtesy visit, the Chief Executive Officer of Roche Pharmaceutical Industry Dr. Severin Schwan.
Roche is one of the best pharmaceutical Industries in world that specialized in production of health equipment and consumables.
The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of Mr. Abdulaziz M. Abdullahi said that Federal Government is ready to work with Roche to improve the healthcare delivery system.
He assured the delegation that Nigeria would always create enabling environment for pharmaceutical industries to thrive.
He said Nigeria has developed five year Nigerian National Cancer Control Plan 2018-2022. The document has among others spelt out strategies for the management and treatment of cancer.
Earlier, the CEO Roche Pharmaceutical industry said that his visit to Nigeria gave him firsthand information about the health system of Nigeria. He called on Federal Government of Nigeria to increase National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Coverage as he said cancer treatment is expensive.
He said making drugs available and affordable to Nigerians would reduce the number of Nigeria moving abroad for medical tourism.
