KACHOLLOM SHANGTI DAJU,
mni, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, began her
public service career with the Federal Ministry of Information now known as
Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMI&NO) as an
Information Officer II (GL 08) and rose to the rank of Director (Information)in
January, 2019.
Until her appointment
as a Federal Permanent Secretary, (Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment) by
His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari on 27th April, 2022, she was the
Director of Public Relations and Protocol Federal Ministry of Information and
Culture.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PERMANENT SECRETARY
The Permanent Secretary is the Chief Accounting Officer of the ministry charged with the responsibility of running the ministry's day-to-day activities. Against the backdrop of established management practices and procedures, the Permanent and procedures, the Permanent Secretary provides support to all general policies, priorities and activities of Government.
SPECIFIC
FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Ø The
provision of support and advice to the Honourable Ministers.
Ø Ensuring
proper implementation of Ministry specific policies, budget plan, projects and
strategic plans among others.
Ø Providing
leadership through the management and motivation of Directors and reform
initiatives to increase overall work efficiency.
Ø Coordinate
the effective and efficient utilization of financial resources in line with the
Ministry of Finance/Treasury requirements and policies as well as the
Procurement Act.
Ø Effectively
managing human resources; instilling discipline, supporting innovations &
inventions and creating an enabling environment for staff growth as well as self-improvement
among others.
Ø Managing
communications and interactions with the public.
Ø Consulting with Directors and DGs of agencies and parastatals under the ministry where appropriate.
